New Delhi:Â A medium-intensity earthquake of magnitude 4.7 struck near Delhi on Friday, prompting people to rush out of their homes. The quake was the latest in a series of several low-intensity earthquakes jolting the city over the last two months.
The epicentre of the earthquake was 60 km southwest of Gurgaon in Haryana, according to India’s National Center for Seismology.
The earthquake struck at 7:00:50 PM IST at a depth of 35 km from the surface.

Strong tremors were felt in Delhi and surrounding areas for several seconds.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Mild earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi some time ago. Hope you are all safe, take care of yourself.”
There was no immediate report of any damage to life of property.
